Increasing membership and sponsorship as a starting point
One of the biggest challenges today for associations, foundations, scientific societies, and NGOs is attracting as many members / donors / sponsors (CSR) as possible, which can be translated into greater funding that, in turn, allows them to deliver more services aligned with the organization’s mission.
A few years ago, we faced a global pandemic that forced us to reinvent the way we work.
Currently, high inflation —driven by war and other causes— is placing these organizations in scenarios where they must search for better strategies and tools. The challenge is twofold: raising awareness among a larger share of the population, while at the same time fostering loyalty among existing members, donors, and sponsors (CSR).
Digital challenges in the Third Sector to grow the number of collaborators
Two key factors should be considered when defining strategies to attract new members / donors / sponsors:
- On the one hand, the specific target audience of each organization (future members / donors / sponsors), the economic environment, and the rise of new digital technologies.
- On the other hand, the degree of progress in the organization’s own digital transformation process.
Recognizing these key starting points, foundations should consider that today’s society is shaped by a new type of stakeholder: one who demands a better user experience, greater value from services provided, higher personalization, and simplicity.
At the same time, some organizations still operate with a traditional management approach —focused mainly on service delivery, with manual processes, slow cycles, and rigid, reactive models. Others, however, have already begun their digital transformation journey, focusing on their target audience regardless of the channel of interaction with the foundation/NGO, being more agile, responsive, and proactive.
This is why it is crucial that such organizations adopt new management strategies, leveraging digital tools to improve efficiency and resource allocation, thereby being in a better position to expand fundraising through a growing number of members:
1. Strengthen your foundation’s online presence and visibility
– Foundation portal: content management, publications. Organize events, committees, and working groups to increase visibility and impact.
2. Closeness, personalized service, and member loyalty
– Member/User portal: private area for information and interaction. Facilitates contact, data exchange, and provides a single helpdesk channel.
3. Improve positioning in the third sector and reach new audiences
– Digital marketing: run online campaigns to boost awareness, attract new audiences, and achieve better positioning.
4. Increase fundraising by streamlining processes
– Registrations and online payments: digitalize transactions with payment gateways, automatic renewals of memberships, and integrated management of donations and sponsorships.
5. Enhance services and strengthen loyalty through innovation
– Online learning: e-learning platforms with progress tracking, SCORM content, and integration with Zoom and Vimeo.
6. Access more sponsors and donors through new channels
– Virtual congresses, events, and meeting rooms: digital spaces for congresses, meetings, webinars, etc.
7. Process optimization and transparency
– Dashboards: global overview and analytics with reports and data visualization. Course evaluation surveys. Compliance with training regulations (FUNDAE).
8. Reduce IT costs and free up resources for social projects. Position your organization as an attractive partner for CSR initiatives
– Administration: manage new member admissions, billing, training (online and onsite), congress registrations, attendance tracking, certificates, and diplomas.
9. Transparency and good governance
– Elections: manage and organize online election processes for your foundation/NGO, including helpdesk support.
10. Recognition and commitment to social action and transparency
– Awards: manage applications, different award types, and the entire selection process of awardees.
